Hosting Family First partners from around the world from 11 countries, on April 30, 2017, Family First Malaysia celebrated their first anniversary with a celebration dinner held in the grand ballroom of Cyberview Resort & Spa, Cyberjaya. The dinner featured a line-up of guest speakers to encourage the guests and multiple performances from a group of ethnic dancers to liven the atmosphere.
The evening’s events began with a cake-cutting ceremony and a welcome address from the Founding Chairman of Family First Malaysia, Mr Tan Tek Seng and his wife, Tinkie, who took to the stage with other members of the Family First Malaysia Committee.
Among the guest speakers for the night were a couple who as a family has overcome various medical complications, a businessman who transformed his business and made it relevant in today’s times and another businessman previously deep in debt but now enjoying a successful career. The Founding Chairman of Family First Global, The Honourable Professor Gregory Slayton, later shared his story on the importance of family, recalling his growing years as a young boy abandoned by his birth father but later adopted by a Chinese family. His early experience has made family crucially important to him.
The dinner guests were thoroughly entertained by various dance performances from the ethnic dancers of the Hadassah Dance Ministry and a musical performance by a father-and-son duo, who whistled tunes such as Mozart’s ‘Turkish March’ and a song titled ‘The Prayer’.
The evening ended strong, with Family First partners from various countries recommitting themselves to serving and reaching out to more families around the globe to make families and communities better.
